EuroVintage has been appointed the exclusive New Zealand distributor of Blank Canvas, one of Marlborough’s most exciting emerging wine brands. This appointment has been made with the full consent and mutual agreement of the incumbent distributor and will commence July 8, 2019.

Blank Canvas was launched just six years ago in 2013 by husband and wife team, international winemaking consultant Matt Thomson and solicitor-come-Master of Wine student Sophie Parker-Thomson. Given the vast experience and wine-making philosophy of this talented duo, it comes as little surprise that Blank Canvas is already turning heads both in New Zealand and internationally.

Together Matt and Sophie have amassed a phenomenal resume of international experience. As a flying winemaker, Matt has accumulated over 25 years’ in the wine industry, having completed Northern and Southern hemisphere vintages in every one of those years. Named the International Wine and Spirits Competition’s International White Winemaker of the Year in 2008; Matt has made wine in Chile, Italy, France, Spain, Hungary and at home in New Zealand.

And after so many vintages consulting for others, Blank Canvas is the first venture that Matt can entirely call his own. He describes Blank Canvas as “our sand-pit”, where he and Sophie have the freedom to experiment, safe in the knowledge that all risks remain theirs. “Blank Canvas embraces using as little manipulation as possible to uphold, over everything else, the wine’s sense of place” says Matt.
