Miguel Torres awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

The President of Bodegas Torres, Miguel A. Torres, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award by prestigious U.S. magazine Wine Enthusiast, in recognition of his professional career spanning five decades, his international vision and his concern for the environment and sustainable practices.

The magazine highlighted the role of Miguel A. Torres as a pioneer in modern techniques for wine production, a leader in the globalization of wine - underlining Torres presence in more than 150 countries - a lifelong visionary and a tireless international ambassador for Spanish wine.

“Miguel Torres has changed the world of wine by not only setting an example for the modernization of the Spanish wine industry, but on a global scale,” says Wine Enthusiast editor and publisher Adam Strum. “He has helped to proliferate wine consumption in China in his role as a major importer and retailer, and is now moving into India and beyond. Charming and charismatic, Torres is universally respected for his innovation, diligence and leadership in the wine world.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award is made annually, based on voting by editors, critics and journalists linked to Wine Enthusiast magazine, a leading publication in wine information, with over 700,000 readers worldwide. First awarded in 1999, this year’s awards gala was held on 28 January at the New York Public Library.
