Domaines Schlumberger
Domaines Schlumberger was founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, who established vineyards on the renowned slopes above the town of Guebwiller. These vineyards have a remarkably long history of viticulture dating back to 207AD. Today Thomas and Séverine Schlumberger represent the 7th generation in charge of the estate.
Through successive generations, the Schlumberger holding has grown to be one of France’s largest and finest domaines. All Schlumberger wines are estate-grown from their own property - 130 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are Grand Cru. This makes them not only the largest owner of vineyards in Alsace, but also the largest owner of Grand Cru in the region. Because of the aridity and steepness of the domains, the yields are about 50 percent of the average for the appellation of Alsace. The resulting grapes are very high quality and have exceptional flavour concentration.
