Clos Ostler
Situated on the Eastern slope of the South Island’s main divide, the Waitaki Valley is a large, braided river valley draining the highest peaks of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The name Waitaki, translated from Te Reo, is said to mean ‘the tears of Aoraki’ — Aotearoa’s highest peak.
Clos Ostler is situated on the south side of the Waitaki River close to Duntroon, 220 metres above sea level. Clos Ostler’s 8 hectare block is of easy rolling hill contour rising steeply to the southern boundary with rocky limestone outcrops lying predominantly to the north. Clos Ostler’s focus is making classic single vineyard Pinot Noir, the complexity and concentration of which expresses the true characteristics of their unique terroir.
